The Hub

Editorial Policy

The Pencil Drawing Hub is written for artists who want straight answers. This page explains how we decide what to recommend and how we keep our advice trustworthy.

Who writes the guides

Guides are curated around the working experience of artist Michael Brace, who draws professionally in coloured pencil and graphite. Where a guide reflects first-hand experience with a material or technique, we say so. Where we are summarising widely shared studio practice, we aim to make that clear too.

How we choose what to recommend

We favour materials that behave predictably, last well and suit the job described. We describe trade-offs honestly - price, tooth, lightfastness, availability - and we say who a product is and is not for. We do not rank products by commission rate.

Affiliate links

Some product links are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This never changes what we recommend. See the affiliate disclosure.

Accuracy and corrections

Product ranges, packaging and prices change. Every guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise guides when products change or when we find an error. If you spot something wrong, please tell us via the contact page and we will correct it promptly.

Manufacturer relationships

We are not paid by manufacturers to review their products. If that ever changes, we will label it clearly on the page.

Images

Drawings and photographs are by Michael Brace unless credited otherwise. Please do not reuse them without permission.
